first day here

I have not even been in finland for 24 hours and it is already very nice...my host family is very kind and helpful...a little about my host family...my mom and dad names are kimmo and arja, my sisters name is tuuli (16) and my brother is sampo (22). I have my own bedroom and my own computer and tv in my bedroom..they also gave me a cell phone.
The plane ride over here was so long first i left my house at 5 am on saturday morning and i arrived here at 12 on sunday which would be 5 am back in michigan. Anyways my first plane left from MBS (midland/bay city/saginaw) at about 9:47 am and arrived in Chicago at 10 am (time change of 1 hour (back))...the Chicago airport is soooooooo large...it took me forever to get to the international terminal even with asking a couple of people...i probly should of wandered around some more before i got to the international terminal though because once i got there at like 11 am i had to sit there for 4 hours...i read a book...played cards...ate...and still had like an hour to waste...oh my god...way to long...but then i got on the plane to stockholm and i was on my way out of the country...at least the plane had music and movies and stuff like that to keep you busy and you even had the choice of what you wanted to watch or listen to...i met someone on the plane he was acctually sitting in the row in front of me that was going to Finland on the same flight as me so i hung out with him at the Stockholm airport...once we got his boarding pass (which took forever) we sat down at the terminal and talked he told me everything that he knew about Helsinki and Finland in Gerneral because he has been coming over here for the last 7 years for business´... he also said that he thought that one of his co workers from over here might be in the Rotary since his business has a base in Vantaa...he was very nice and helpful he even waited with me until my host parents found me i probly would of been freaking out without him. anyways the flight form stockholm to helsinki was like 45 minutes very short but quite a bit of turbulance ( i didnt like that)...
Anyways when i arrived they showed me my room first and then the rest of the house...since Tuuli wasnt home (she was at cheerleading practice) i unpacked my stuff and got used to the house and my room...for supper we had chicken, rice and salad...it was really good...then Tuuli switched the internet on my computer over to English so that until i learn the language i can get around the internet and then we watched Rush Hour in her roomwhen that got over it was like 7:45pm and i was extremely tired sinc i didnt get much sleep on the plane (maybe 3 hours) i was asleep by 8:15 pm and i slept until 8:45 am...i still am a little tired but i am sure that will pass within the first week once i get used to the time change and all. This morning i got up ate and now i am writing this so ends well almost end my first 24 hours in Finland. This afternoon after Tuuli gets out of school she is going to show me how to use the bus system (the main form of transportation) and i also think she is going to show me my school...my dad told me that i didnt have to go to school today and he would call the school and tell them that i would be coming in tomarrow...he said i should just use the day to catch up on my sleep, relax, and get used to Finland. so i am...and it is very nice ...Vantaa is like a suburb of helsinki and yet it has a lot of trees and very countryish things very homey...well i will probly write later tonight before i go to bed hope everyone is haveing a good lst couple of days before school starts. byebye -marci-
